Currently, there are several non-genuine sustain blocks for Floyd Rose® already on the market. Some of these are made from Grade-5 titanium (6% Al-4%V titanium alloy). This material is especially hard and has excellent cutting properties. Therefore, sustain and brighter tones can be expected. However, with years of experience in making titanium products for guitars, a material that is too hard can have a harsh, high mid spike and is not necessarily good for the sound. That is why we select materials classified as Grade-2 or pure titanium.
Although the Grade-2 is softer than Grade-5, it provides sufficient longer sustain and makes the sound rounder and milder while removing any harsh tones. Because everyone has their own taste in sound, we would never dismiss another company’s product.
